Safety and security window film is a risk-reduction product. Please read this before ordering it.
What it is designed to do
- Help hold shattered glass fragments together on the film rather than spraying into the room.
- Make forced entry through glass slower and noisier, which can deter an intruder.
- Reduce flying-glass injury risk in some impact and storm events.
What it is not
- It is not bullet resistant, bullet proof or ballistic glazing.
- It is not burglar proof or a substitute for locks, alarms, cameras or monitoring.
- It is not hurricane-impact rated glazing and does not by itself satisfy any impact building code.
- It does not prevent glass from breaking, and it does not make glass unbreakable.
Performance depends on the installation
Effectiveness varies with film thickness, whether an attachment system is used at the frame, the frame and glazing type, glass thickness, the nature and force of the impact, and the age and condition of the existing glass. Film applied to the glass surface without an attachment system may allow the whole glass panel to leave the frame under heavy impact.
